Picnic worthy food!

One of the blogs I read regularly asked for picnic recipes so I decided to share some of my favorites here too.

Peaches & Tomatoes
Slice up some peaches and tomatoes.  Sprinkle with lemon juice and a dash of salt and pepper and coat with a thin layer of olive oil.

Ham & Cheese Croissants
I purchase some deli ham (shaved) and some deli cheese.  I then stop by the bakery and buy some fresh croissants.  Slice the croissants, add the ham and cheese.  Wrap them in paper towels and microwave a few seconds.  These taste so delicious whether they are hot or cold.

Fruit Dip

1 c. plain yogurt
1/4 c. honey
1 tsp. orange juice

Mix the ingredients together and use to dip all your favorite types of fruit.

I would love to read your favorite picnic recipes.  Please leave your comments and recipes below.

13 Uses for Beer

There are many different uses for beer besides getting drunk.

So please use beer in the following manner and not for consumption.

·         Use it to highlight your hair.  Just soak your hair in beer and then go lay out in the sun.
·         Marinate meat.  Using beer to marinate your meat makes your meat very tender and delicious.
·         Add kick to your chili.  Adding one bottle of a dark beer will really enhance the flavor.
·         Polish your jewelry.  Beer really brings out the shine of your gold.
·         Improve your lawn. If your lawn has brown spots, just pour a can of beer on it and watch how it improves.  The sugar and nutrients in the beer are easily absorbed y the grass.
·         Polish your furniture with it.  Pour a flat beer onto a cotton cloth and rub it into your wooden furniture.
·         Soften your skin.  Take a bath with a few bottles of beer poured in and your skin will be softer.
·         Kill slugs.  Salt will work but you have to see them to kill them; that is not the case this way.  Pour a small amount into a jar and bury the jar in your garden up to the neck or ground level.  The sweet taste will lure them in and they will not be able to get out.
·         Kill rodents.  Get a small bucket and fill it up about 1/3 of the way up with beer.  Then put a book or ruler leaned up against it (use it as a ramp) and set it out.  The rodents will smell it, climb up and in and then will not be able to get out.
·         Condition your hair.  After washing your hair, pour some beer onto your head, wait a few minutes and rinse. It works great.
·         Keep wasps and bees at bay.   If you are having a picnic or barbecue and are having a problem with bees, etc. just pour beer into several small containers and put them around the perimeter of the area you will be at and the flying nuicances will stay away because they will be to busy drinking to bother you or your guests.
·         Make your shrimp more bold.  To add some “oomph” to shrimp, just boil the shrimp in beer.
·         Wash your pillowcases.  Washing your pillow cases in beer (the nutty aroma) can help you get a good night’s rest.

Proverbs 22:6 and Homeschooling

I have had a few people inquiring about the name of my blog.  Proverbs 22:6 reads:  "Train up a child in the way he should go,  And when he is old he will not depart from it".  My husband and I feel it is very important to raise our children in a Christian environment and raise them biblically.  We are also home schoolers and base our education of our children the same way.  I felt it was only appropriate to name my blog to let others know how I feel.

Crockpot Potato & Chicken Deliciousness

I love cooking in the crockpot.  It is a great way to cook a good meal for you family without all the fuss and hard work.  It is great to just put all the ingredients into the crockpot and forget about it until it is time to eat and here is one of my family's favorites.
Potato & Chicken Deliciousness

2 cans of chicken

Place all ingredients into crockpot and cook on low 4 hours or on high for 8 hours.  Either way it will turn out delicious.  We always serve this meal with some biscuits.

3D rendering of our school house

Here is a 3D rendering of what our school house will look like when it is finished.
In the lower left hand corner (the black object) will be our fish tank.  Lower right is my desk.  In the upper right where the 2 brown book cases are will be the reading area and we will have a rug and bean bag chairs there.  The upper right area will be the computer corner.
